Digital Portfolio Project

http://ndmueller.weebly.com/

While doing what I was able to do (since I was out) for the Weebly Project, I learned a lot. Some things I learned were that the internet can be used in a way to represent yourself professionaly! Sites like Weebly allow you to put documents, pictures, videos, presentations, etc. into a website! We used Slideshare for example to upload our bucket list projects.

My Favorite part was being able to design the format, layout, and basic design of the Weebly. I enjoy being able to be creative and express myself. This was by far my favorite part. My least favorite part was having to use zamzar to upload my documents to pictures. This process took a lot of time and effort what I think should be a relatively easy task. That is the only thing that I disliked about the Weebly project.

While answering the questions about my Personality Profile and Skills Inventory, I was honest about my responses. I thought that finding out my personality profile would be very cool! I think it's intersting that everyone is different, yet we share similar traits that make us similar! The answers did give me results of qualities and characteristics that I find in myself. For example, they said that I was person who followed rules even when no one was there to enforce them. This is something I usually do.

The career results did correspond with what I was interested in, but not anymore. Before doing the project, I thought being a surgeon would be a very cool job. After doing the projct, I realized that being a surgeon was not a job for me! The long hours and night/weekend work does not interest me at all! Because of what I learned through the career project, I have decided not to be a surgeon. However, I do not know what I would like to be.

Twitter

1.) I may continue to use Twitter. Honestly, I don't know right now. This is because I haven't used it much and am still trying to figure out if I like how it works and what it is used for. I will give it a try and possibly continue to use it.

2.)Twitter could definitely be used personally and in a career. In a personal setting, Twitter could be used to tell people where you're going or what you're doing. Like yesterday, I had an orthodontist appointment and them went to Taco Bell. I could have "Tweeted" that I was at the orthodontist and ate a 5 buck box (not at the orthodontist of course
)! In a professional setting, Twitter could be used to say many things. My chosen career was a surgeon, who could use Twitter at work. A surgeon could "Tweet" things like "prepping for surgery" to let coworkers, family, and friends to know not to try reaching him/her. Another reason a surgeon could use Twitter is to let future patients know how surgeries went before their own. For example, if I had surgery on friday and I knew that a surgery on thursday went well, I would feel much better. This could help a surgeon a lot!

3.) Businesses could use Twitter in many ways! One way would be to tell customers of advertisments, deals, and sales. For instance, The Drum Depot puts their sales on Facebook and often I consider going. If I got a "Tweet" with sales, I might go to that store. A second way Twitter could be used in a buisness setting is that when saying things like, "Just sold some lacrosse sticks to a team!" other customers may be interested and go buy similar items. A third way that Twitter could be used by buisnesses is to let workers and employees know what is going on. Things like sales, deals, and prices are things that employees need to know. Twitter could help them very much!

Digital Portfolio Project

This digital Portfolio Project helped me to learn very much! I learned about surgeons, technology in surgeons career, me, what I may need to look more into for college and a career, and how to use websites like "Weebly" and "Slideshare." What I have learned will definitely help me in the future while in school, in a career, for persoal things, and much more! I plan on using all that I am learning in the class often!

In this project, there were obvioulsy things that I did and did not like. Some things that I liked were finding out more about surgeons after taking the matchmaker tests (which I also really liked) and putting together the powerpoint! Some things that I did not like about this project were putting togther the cover letter and resume. I did not like creating the cover letter, because the things that I put in the cover letter, I have not done and don't know if I ever will. I hope to, but I felt like I was lying almost. Also, I did not like puting together the resume because I feel like the jobs I do, are good and I am glad that I have them, but listing them like I am some professional, wasn't true. I just shovel snow like everybody else: with a shovel.

When completing the inventory questions, I was true with my answers, which subsequently affected my results. I like working with people, using tools, and helping others. In my results, this was evident, because I got many jobs in the medical feild that used these skills.

The career choices that I received in my results were really cool jobs that I would be interested in after high school, however I do not know what I want to do. One of the jobs that I received on my list, which I was interested in, was a surgeon. I actually learned a lot about surgeons and their jobs! Look at my Power Point on my personal "Weebly" to find out more.

stand out week

Brandon Sondergeld and I created our powerpoint on Distracted Driving. What we hoped that you would learn while viewing this powerpoint was that there are 3 kinds of distractions while driving: manual (hands), visual (eyes), and congnitive (mind). We also hoped that you learned about the statistics of distracted driving and learned of some common distractions.

Online Experience A Reflection

While in Online Experience A, I have learned a lot of information on technology, safety, use of technology, and countless other things! Now, I know why the state of Michigan requires this class.

Technology-"the study, development, and application of devices, machines, and techniques for manufacturing and productive processes"  is very important in every aspect of our daily lives. From the dishwashers we use to the computers we work and check Facebook on. Technology simply makes life easier and more convenient. Everything we need is right at our fingertips and so easy to get. By using technology, especially computer technology, we can become a smarter, more dedicated, and a  more influential generation of humans. Over the past 5 years technology has changed a lot. For  example, the graphics, accessories, accessibility, and just the things that we can do in general have changed dramatically. In the next 5 years, I think that everything will continue to change at the same speed if not faster. Some people say that we are in the golden age of technology, because our knowledge and application of technology is increasing so rapidly. In 5 years time, I wonder if there will even be mouses anymore. Will there even be home computers? Will even laptops be a thing of the past? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

For school work, I personally use resource tools like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and the Internet. I also use some social networking like Wiki Spaces. For Online experience however, I use a lot of things! But, I won't count that for my actual "School work." In my personal life, I use the Internet. Specifically. I use things like Google, YouTube, Facebook, and Gmail.

I have learned many thing in Online Experience A. I definitely think that I will use a lot of the information in my personal and school life. For instance, I will most likely create Avatars. Also, I will use social networking sites and applications more, and with better knowledge of them. I know that I will use many of the safety tips that we learned in Online Experience A also. Many of them I did not know, and did not apply to my Internet and technology uses. Now, I will.

I think that iGoogle is the most practical tool that we used this year. This is because it is simple, easy, and very practical. All the things that you can do through iGoogle is amazing (see previous post-screencast o matic)!

The tool that I will most likely NOT use in my personal life again is RSS Feeds. I do not check blogs or website for updates very commonly and so this is of practically no use to me.

The tool that I found the most fun and interesting to create was the avatars. This was because I enjoy creating things and especially integrating art while creating. The assignments were fun and I enjoyed them a lot!

My least favorite tool to create was the iGoogle. This was only because I already had an iGoogle account, so I just sat around while others created One.
